Hot and Very Sweaty Love…..

Posted by: Francine Kaye Posted Date: 04/08/2010

Would you be willing to get very hot and sweaty for the sake of love? I know what you are thinking and if you are thinking ‘that’, then you’ll probably say yes of course! But actually I am talking about getting really uncomfortable for the sake of love. Love that allows you to sit in a hot car for hundreds of miles to visit people you love. Love that pushes your patience to the limits as you struggle in a hot office to help your son finish his dissertation when you’d much rather be outside in the sunshine and love, very much like yesterday evening, when my own ‘gorgeous girl’ wants me to go out for a walk after a nightmare journey for us both on a very hot tube.

So Love can make you do what you may not even consider doing if love isn’t present. Does that make sense? It’s interesting to look at where we compromise ourselves and where there is absolutely no compromise because love is present.

Off we go for a long walk and I have to say I was ‘loving’ every moment but ‘gorgeous girl’ wasn’t and so we stopped sooner than usual for me, because she is more important than the extra half a mile. (Also because, unbeknown to her, I had already come across the large cows (see previous blogs) around the next bend and this is not something that she would have handled quietly. I love my life enough to not want to disturb the cows, so I turned back before she caught me up to point her back in the direction we had come from.

But the question of compromise was one I found myself dwelling on and my conclusion is that either you choose love or you don’t. What I mean by that is ‘compromise’ is the deal we often make with ourselves in relationship. We say, well ‘I’ll let him watch the football because I want him to come shopping with me’. That’s a deal. Love is, ‘he loves watching the football and I love him, so it makes sense for him to watch the football’. He is saying ‘I love watching the football and I love her so that when its over I’d love us to do something together and I don’t mind what that is’. That’s Love. Love is mutual. I love you how you want to be loved and you love me how I want to be loved. And the reason is because we both want to feel and give love. This is such an interesting discussion and I have no doubt you will have your own ideas and opinions on this – all of which I’d love to hear.

So here’s a question for you. Do you still choose love even when the heat is on?

Till tomorrow
