Ever heard of Toyboy Warehouse? No? Well you have now. And guess what? I know the owner and she’s a fabulous 40 something woman who just happens to enjoy dating younger fit guys who prefer a more sophisticated woman. So, all you fabulous women out there - would you dare and how young would be too young?
Dating younger women has never been unusual for men. Its perfectly normal for a 45 year old guy to date a woman as young as her late 20’s but not so usual for a 45 year old woman to date a mid 20’s guy. At Toyboy Warehouse however, young fit ‘six packs’ are fighting for their opportunity to date ‘Mrs. Robinson’s’ with guys outnumbering the ladies by a third.
Of course, for no other reason than ‘research’ for my new book, the lovely Julia urged me to register which got me thinking about all the reasons for and against the idea and the stories we make up about age and dating.
In a recent blog I wrote about the fact that 50 year old divorced guys are not exactly queuing up for 50 year old women after divorce or separation, which means that there are a large group of gorgeous, intelligent women aged 48-58 who are destined to end up with much older men as their ex’s edge their way in into a playground of young women attracted by ‘father figures’ or by the possibility of a sugar daddy to take advantage of.
So why not buck the system. 50 is now the new 40. Women are refusing to age and are certainly not showing signs of letting themselves go in any way. They ooze sexual confidence are independent financially and know exactly how to have fun. They are emotionally quite able to take care of themselves, they know what they want and are ready to go out and get it.
Let’s be clear though, and Julia is – very! It’s not just about the gimmick. Take Demi Moore and Ashton Kutchner or closer to home the 26-year age gap between Barbara Windsor and her toyboy Scott Mitchell. Both of these relationships are long lasting and age is not an issue. As Julia points out, age is irrelevant - if it works, it works.
So ladies, how ‘low’ would you go? I’d love to hear your opinions. Personally, I think I’ll stick to the 40 something’s. Maturity is what works for me but…. the temptation of rock hard abs may prove too much as I ‘research’ Julia’s site. As she pointed out, don’t knock it till you’ve tried it and, as yet, I am really not in position to argue with her about that.
Till tomorrow,
Love Francine
